Program Description

Event Details

Chalk the Walk is a community-focused awareness campaign in observance of World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD). From Sunday, September 10 until Saturday, September 16, 2023. BC SAFE encouraged both organizations and individuals to beautify sidewalks and pavement using chalk with messages and images of hope, resilience, suicide prevention, and mental health awareness during this time, and share them on social media.

Sad to see CHALK THE WALK, HAVE THE TALK end? Then let's keep the HOPE going and join us for the CHALK THE WALK Gallery Art Show!

We will be announcing the winners of the contest plus showcasing all of the contest entries, shared social media posts, and LUMA creations. Even if you didn't create any CHALK THE WALK art, this is sure to inspire everyone that comes to experience it.

New this year we are hosting an open mic during the gallery art show. For those that prefer a more performative art, this open mic is for you! The theme is HOPE & RESILIENCE (being mindful of appropriate language so as not to be triggering to anyone who might be enduring a trauma). You're welcome to perform poetry, short story, acoustic song/rap, etc. no longer than 5 minutes. Sign up here: https://bit.ly/3PFNUw7

We can't wait to see you there!
