Event Details
Celebrate our Summer Reading Program theme, Color Our World, with movies that feature heavy strategic use of color to represent characters, emotions, ideas, and other forms of symbolism. This week's movie is Wicked (2024), which is based on both the Broadway musical and the 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire. In Wicked, Elphaba, a misfit young woman particularly ridiculed for her green skin, and Galinda, a charismatic popular girl who initially despises Elphaba, become friends at Shiz University in the Land of Oz. After Elphaba and Galinda meet the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads.
Rated PG-13. Snacks provided.
