Celebrate our Summer Reading Program theme, Color Our World, with movies that feature heavy strategic use of color to represent characters, emotions, ideas, and other forms of symbolism. In the fantasy/satirical comedy film Barbie, "stereotypical" Barbie and beach-loving Ken are living the idyllic life in the colorful matriarchal world of Barbie Land when Barbie is suddenly stricken with worries about her mortality and develops imperfections overnight. Weird Barbie tells Stereotypical Barbie she must find a child playing with her in the real world to cure her imperfections, so Barbie sets out for the real world in her convertible with Ken stowing away in her trunk.
