This biographical drama covers Harriet Tubman's escape from slavery and transformation into one of America's greatest heroines as one of the instrumental "conductors" of the Underground Railroad, a clandestine network of safe houses and secret routes that assisted "passengers" fleeing slavery in dodging both their captors and the slavecatchers seeking to recapture them and traffic them back into slavery. Tubman's cleverness, courage, ingenuity and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of American history.
