In the 1996 edition of Romeo and Juliet, a film adaptation of the William Shakespeare tragedy of the sane name, Shakespeare's famous play is updated to the hip 1990s suburb of Verona Beach while still retaining its original dialogue from the play. The Capulets and Montagues are bitter rival business empires. When Romeo Montague (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his cousin Benvolio (Dash Mihok) crash a Capulet party, he meets Juliet Capulet (Claire Danes) and the two immediately fall for each other, both unaware of what family the other is from. Meanwhile, Juliet's pugnacious cousin Tybalt (John Leguizamo) spots Romeo and vows to murder him for the intrusion into his family home.
