Program Description

Event Details

Beccye Fawcett was an accomplished woman who could boast of many "firsts" as a Black woman in less than fair or friendly racial times. Among those "firsts" -- she was the first Black employee to work at Broome County Public Library. Brenda Cave-James will share interesting stories with great photographs that peek into Mrs. Fawcett's life and social circles. These would include Mrs. Margaret Cave, Mrs. Fawcett's dear friend and Brenda's grandmother.

Brenda Cave-James is a local poet and independent researcher with deep roots in the Binghamton area and a love for discovering and uncovering forgotten histories.
