The September Exhibit, The 100th Anniversary of Binghamton's Memorial Bridge, is presented by the Broome County Historical Society.

Armistice Day, November 11, 1918 - The Great War was over! Within days, suggestions were made for a suitable memorial to Broome County's war heroes. In a letter to The Binghamton Press, shoe-factory worker Robert Dean suggested "a Soldiers' Victory Memorial Bridge" to span the Chenango River from Water Street to Riverside Drive.

Five years later, construction began on a 5-span concrete deck arch bridge, and on Labor Day, September 7, 1925, more than 100,000 people gathered downtown to celebrate and dedicate Binghamton's Memorial Bridge.
