The Broome County Public Library (BCPL) is seeking applicants for the position of Library Assistant for the Information Services Department. Located in downtown Binghamton, New York, BCPL is the central library of the Four County Library System. The work involves providing readers advisory, computer assistance and reference services at the information desk.
Responsibilities include:
- Digital literacy and makerspace instruction
- Assist in planning and conducting library programs for adults
- Facilitate interlibrary loan requests
- Assist with community outreach to promote the use of library services
Requirements:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree
- A commitment to public service and the ability to serve a diverse community
- Ability to interact with the public and to resolve public service issues in a courteous and efficient manner
Initial appointment will be on a provisional basis pending the completion of a credential-based civil service exam.
Starting salary: $47,433/year with full benefits
