It includes information on library hour changes, our 25th anniversary celebration, movies we will be showing, events for children/teens, and much more. The September 2025 edition of the In the Loop newsletter is now available. In addition to library event listings, this edition provides details on the 4CLS Library Card Design Contest and the BCPL Library Card Sign-up Month Raffle. It also offers information about a digital resource that will assist with preparation for college and grad school entrance exams, career-specific exams, and more. The August 2025 In the Loop Newsletter is now available. It provides details on programming and events for children, teens, and adults, including our NASA event, a cozy mystery RPG, Hungry Ear, Queer Tea Hour, and more. It also offers information about a database that you can access for free with your library card to find new books to read.

The July 2025 "In the Loop" newsletter is now available on our website! It details all of the fun and instructional events we have coming up for kids, teens and adults. Our programming for July includes gaming, events based on the summer reading theme Color Our World, and our Tiny Art Show!

The library will be closed on Thursday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. According to the National Museum of African-American History and Culture, “on June 19, 1865, nearly two years after President Abraham Lincoln emancipated enslaved Africans in America, Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas with news of freedom. More than 250,000 African Americans embraced freedom by executive decree in what became known as Juneteenth, or Freedom Day.” Juneteenth became federally recognized in June of 2021.

Take Action for Libraries Day is held annually on Thursday of National Library Week, April 10 in 2025. This year, as the IMLS and library funding are under attack, ALA encourages every library advocate to Show Up for Our Libraries by telling Congress to protect federal support for libraries. Monday, January 20 is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, commemorating the life and legacy of Civil Rights Movement leader, activist, and minister Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. BCPL will be open that day. Honor his memory by reading one of the many books that discuss his aspirations and accomplishments.
