We are pleased to announce that Broome County will be replacing the air handlers on the Library’s roof in October and would like to thank the County Administration, the Department of Public Works, and County taxpayers for this important investment in our facility. In order to complete the project, the Library will be closed to the public from Monday October 14th through Saturday October 19th. During this time, there will be no public access to the Library property, including our parking lot. We will reopen on Monday October 21st. We will be extending the checkout period for all library materials so that nothing is due during this closure. It is our policy to never charge overdue fees for any of our materials. The other libraries in the Four County Library System won’t be impacted by this project and will remain open as usual.

We have a brand new Seed Library! Located between the Circulation Desk and Youth Services, the Seed Library has seeds to grow vegetables, herbs, and other plants. Unlike normal library materials, you won’t need to return these.
BCPL now offers access to the New York Times online! You can read both inside and outside the library. This also gives you access to other New York Times resources, such as New York Times databases, videos, and teacher resources.
At any given time throughout the year, an imposing statue in the Local History & Genealogy Department can be found dressed as a reindeer, a butterfly, a witch, or even a bride.
Our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program is an exciting and free way to encourage caregivers to read 1,000 books with their young children before starting Kindergarten.
