September is Library Card Sign-Up Month!
This month we’re encouraging everyone to sign up for a library card! If you have a card that you aren’t sure is still active, come in and renew it! Need a new card? Come in for a replacement!
This is also a great time to double-check that the information on your card is up-to-date. Moved? Change your phone number? Have a new name? Come let us know and we’ll update your account!
As an incentive, we’re offering some rewards!
For anyone ages 13+, if you get a new card anytime between Tuesday, September 5th and Saturday, September 30th, you’ll be entered into a raffle for a $50 Wegamans giftcard!
For anyone ages 13+, if you renew or replace your card, you’ll get a small prize.
For kids under the age of 13, if you sign up for a card, you’ll get a small prize!
How do get a card?!
Library cards are free to anyone who lives or owns property in Broome, Chenango, Delaware, or Otsego counties. Your card can be used at any of the 4CLS libraries in these counties.
Ages 13+: Bring in a form of ID or paperwork that displays your full name. This ID or paperwork does not need to include your picture or address. See below for acceptable forms of ID.
Ages 0-12: Sign up with a grown-up! The grown-up must bring in an acceptable form of ID. See below for what those include.
You can get a card if you live in a dorm! Or are staying with a friend! Or even if you don’t have an address!
Library cards are free! Replacement cards are $1.50.
Cards are good for three years and then they need to be renewed. To renew a card, bring in an acceptable form of ID and your library card, and we’ll renew your card!

Picture ID:
- Driver’s license (any state ID, whether it’s NY or not)
- Sheriffs ID
- Prison discharge ID
- Passport
- School ID
- Green card
- Military ID
- EBT card
Non-picture ID:
- Credit card
- Checkbook
- Report card
- Lease agreement (paper or on phone)
- Social security card
- Birth certificate
- Pay stub
- Interim license
- Non-picture EBT card
- Insurance card
*MaiI is NOT acceptable as ID, even if it's official business mail.
